Australian Bureau Chief of the New York Times Damien Cave has reported from locations around the globe from Mexico to Baghdad. He says at times the lack of press freedoms for journalists in Australia make it feel more like an authoritarian regime, and that has greater implications now in the midst of a pandemic.
